Real estate platform Opendoor’s opening its doors in Austin

Since its Bay Area launch in 2013, Opendoor has become an industry leader in digital real estate and raised a cool $645 million along the way. Now, in a nationwide expansion, Opendoor plans to set roots here in Austin by the end of the year. According to the company, they are already hiring in the area, as well as in Phoenix, Dallas, Las Vegas, Atlanta and a handful of other medium-sized cities. [Inman]

H-E-B reveals plans for massive tech innovation center

Long-standing grocery store H-E-B, which acquired Austin delivery startup Favor earlier this year, is about to expand its footprint in Austin with an 81,000-square-foot technology innovation center located in the eastern area of the city, according to reports. The facility, which is set to open in spring 2019, will be used as a creative laboratory for the grocer, as they work to develop new ideas serving the consumer sector. The new space will also result in the creation of hundreds of tech jobs, particularly in product management, design and engineering. [Silicon Hills]

FirstClose receives multi-million-dollar funding to fuel expansion

Earlier this week, FirstClose announced it has received several million dollars in funding from Cypress Growth Capital. FirstClose, a technology developer for mortgage lenders, said in a press release that it plans to use the cash influx to expand marketing efforts, account management, finance and more. While the exact terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed, Built In Austin has reached out for comment and will update with further details. [Business Wire]

Arena Solutions sets sights on Austin for expansion

Arena Solutions, a California-based manufacturing software company, recently announced plans to expand, with an office in Austin soon to come. The company will also open an office in Suzhou, China. The expansion comes as the company works to meet increasing demand for manufacturing of electronics and medical devices, an area in which Arena Solutions specializes. [Austin American-Statesman]
