Corporate Controller

Position Description:

We are seeking a Controller to help create and lead our Accounting function. In general, this person would be responsible for all accounting operations, including period-end close, AP and AR, cash management, managing third-party firms (e.g., audit and tax), and implementing internal controls for GAAP-compliant financial statements.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close
  • Maintain integrity of accounting records and reports in accordance with GAAP
  • Develop documented policies and procedures for all accounting operations
  • Work with the executive team to help advance the accounting systems and create efficiencies
  • Oversee the daily processes within Accounting and Accounts Payable ensuring needs of the business are met timely and accurately
  • Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
  • Manage and maintain Sales and Corporate tax filings
  • Manage the annual audit of the company’s financial statements; oversee the preparation of audit schedules, provide supporting documentation and manage relationship with external audit firm
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and assist with projects as required
  • This role will be crucial to our development as a rapidly-growing startup brand! The candidate will report to the core leadership team and will get unmatched cross-functional experience and exposure -- and see first-hand how both marketing and operations decisions are made in a high-growth startup environment
  • Perform other accounting or administrative tasks as needed
  • Maintain high standards of ethics, integrity and honesty
  • This role will report to the Head of Finance & Operations.


    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited four-year university
    • Active CPA license
    • A minimum of 5-7 years of work experience with a Public/Private mix in Ecommerce or Retail industry
    • Strong technical US GAAP knowledge, analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Experience working across departments to implement new processes and improve upon existing processes
    • Proven track record in identifying and implementing cost savings initiatives
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
    • Natural curiosity, strong attention to detail and a bias toward action
    • Prior experience with Quickbooks and/or NetSuite software desirable
    • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
