What is Spreetail
Spreetail is an ecommerce company that currently operates VMInnovations, a multi-marketplace retailer that sells thousands of awesome products through major marketplaces like Amazon, eBay, and Walmart. Spreetail is currently in the middle of building something big, new, and exciting due to launch in 2019 with a simple mission: to make customers’ lives better through exceptionally fast service, great products, and community impact.
Originally from Lincoln, Nebraska, Spreetail has recently expanded into two new offices based in Omaha, NE and Austin, TX with rapidly growing teams. We currently have hundreds of employees across the company, and are searching for crazy smart, talented, visionary people.

Spreetail is seeking a Finance associate to partner with our Marketing teams to identify and evaluate opportunities to create value. The candidate will help to develop, measure, and invest adverting spend to ensure Spreetail is optimizing the advertising investment. Ability to identify key metrics and to produce meaningful reports is required but converting this information into analytical insights is essential. The successful candidate must understand financial concepts, exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, a bias for action and a passion to create value.

Marketing Investment Analytics

  • Partner with the business to create financial models and analysis to assess advertising investment
  • Generate learnings associated with advertising spend and apply to future investments.
  • Work with business to develop long-term financial projections.
  • Identify and monitor key business operating metrics to ensure successful value creation relative to expectations.

Value-added Analytics

  • Create forward looking financial models and analysis to support key future growth opportunities and strategic projects.
  • Work with business to develop long-term financial projections.
  • Support &/or lead negotiations, depending on the opportunity.

Planning and Forecasting

  • Operate as a trusted advisor to the Brand/Marketing team.
  • Develop long-term planning that connects strategic objectives to business drivers
  • Drive the budgeting and planning process as well as financial analysis of key business operations and metrics.
  • Ensure timely and accurate development of monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts, variance analysis, and budgets.
  • Develop/enhance revenue and expense forecasting models.

Expense Optimization

  • Optimize the expense base by continuing to review expenses at a transactional level
  • Identify expense inefficiencies and develop actions to improve results
  • Hold teams & individuals accountable to optimize expense investments

Key Performance Indicators

  • Identify Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and generate insightful reporting of key business drivers and trends.
  • Implement actions that will create value based on this reporting.

Lead & Partner

  • Work with business partners to help them understand the financial side of the business and coach them on continuous development

Requirements

  • MBA in Finance.
  • Previous experience in developing business revenue and expense projections, ecommerce and/or retail finance. Preference given to individuals with ecommerce marketing finance experience.
  • Previous experience in analytical roles with an emphasis on business partner support
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience utilizing advanced financial concepts required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of accounting, finance, economics, mathematics, statistics and analytics.
  • Skills in complex problem solving, judgment, critical thinking and decision making.
  • Advanced computer skills are required. This position requires a high proficiency in excel spreadsheet financial modeling, simulation engines, and data base query tools. Experience with financial reporting and planning systems and database modeling are a plus.
  • Ability in analysis including comparative ROI, cost-benefit, valuation, basic statistical models, and cost accounting.
  • Ability to interact will all members of company and with external parties in a professional manner maintaining effective communication, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to be highly organized with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ability to tolerate stress and be adaptable, flexible, persistent, versatile and handle multiple projects and re-prioritizations.
  • Ability to organize information and have attention to detail and accurately follow procedures.
  • Ability to maintain self-motivation and to work independently and in team environments.
  • Ability to piece together conclusions and apply rules to produce answers that make sense.

What are some social events your company does?

One of my favorite (unofficial) social events is something we call 6:00 Club. Every Thursday at 6 p.m., if people are still at the office we all go into the bar room to play games and just get to know each other. It’s a great way to de-stress and hang out with people that you might not work with on a day-to-day basis!

I started my career journey as a Customer Experience Specialist. A few months into my role, I took part in an internal internship program with the Marketing team. Digital marketing is where I found my sweet spot. It’s vast, always changing, and can be hyper-detailed and broad at the same time, and I love it.
